| hard to imagine it's been 15 years. april 5th is always a quiet day for me, a day when generation X fell silent. i always wear a nirvana shirt and listen to their records on this day. aside from family and jesus, kurt cobain will always be my greatest hero. it isn't because he introduced me to the complexities of punk rock, rebellion, songwriting, self-expression and unwillingness to compromise........ it's because Kurt Cobain truly understood art, how to create it and the importance of keeping it pure. my favourite artist is a man who throughout his life, constantly denied being an artist. our culture is perpetually infected with mediocre humans, self-proclaimed artists flooding society with contrived projects they call art. it's mostly rubbish - manufactured, not created. the motive: distribution rather than personal satisfaction. but i suppose that is what makes the good ones so. without cats, would we not appreciate dogs so much? would we appreciate a chair if we've never stood? real artists don't need the title, they live it. they stand out from the impostors like marshmallows in in a field of coal.
“I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not.” - Kurt Cobain
(i made this to post last night, but my computer's hard drive crashed. i rebuilt it tonight, added some new ram and all is well. so, this was initially to be posted on April, 5th.)
